So Much Inspiration

Spend five minutes scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest and you'll quickly start to notice something. Beautiful homes are everywhere. Perfect kitchens. Perfect sofas. Perfect coffee tables with the perfectly stacked books and sculptural bowl.

And while they're inspiring, they also start to look... surprisingly similar.

For years we've been told to make "timeless" choices. To think about resale. To avoid anything too personal. To choose the safe option because someone else might not like it one day.

I think we're finally starting to move away from that.

Personality

The best interiors aren't memorable because they're perfect. They're memorable because they have personality. They have depth. They tell a story. They have a vibe.

More importantly, they have your vibe.

When I walk into a client's home, I'm far more interested in the things that make them smile than the things that simply look expensive.

Maybe it's an old three-legged stool that always sat in the corner of your grandparents' kitchen. Maybe it's a strange wooden nutcracker your family brought back from Germany decades ago. Perhaps it's the battered popcorn maker that hangs over an open campfire every summer, filling the air with the smell of smoke and butter while everyone waits for the first kernels to pop.

To someone else, these might seem like ordinary objects, or even a little odd.

To you, they're priceless.

Curiosities

Those are the pieces that stop people in their tracks. They're the ones guests ask about. They're the objects that spark stories around the dinner table.

They're the pieces your children will quietly claim long before you've ever thought about passing them on.

They become part of your family's history.

Every family has them.

Sometimes they're inherited. Sometimes they're found at a flea market while travelling. Sometimes they're collected over decades without any intention at all. They don't match. They aren't always valuable. They certainly aren't "designer."

But they're authentic.

Your Style

It's not to say everything in your home should be quirky. That's taking it too far! But maybe don't choose the grey sofa. Maybe opt for a tweed with a little bit of texture and colour. Do a little bit of colour research, and choose a rug in a colour that complements (or heck, contrasts) it.

Your room will have a vibe!

Choose the bold stone, go for the vintage mirror, and commit to the big piece of art, it might lead to something great!

The result will be a home that speaks your language and shows people who you are. Because you are going to live in it, you might as well enjoy it!
